Bath Day for the boats. All washed, 303 protected, screws tightened & wood re-stained. Just need the ice to come off.

In order from closest to farthest. Rob Roy, Merlin, Magic, Northwind, Northstar, Northwoods

Nice fleet!
My Tranq is still hanging in the garage, I plan on giving it a coat of epoxy this year.
Give the graphite/epoxy mixture a go for the first time for the skid plate areas as well.

Just a heads up. 303 is water soluble. What you spray on your boat ends up in the lake and does little in the intervening time to preserve your hull.

Didn't know that. Northstar and other outdoor stores sell/market it for use on canoes. Is there a better product to use to UV protect?

That is interesting and a fact I did not know. 303 is not cheap either, I had thought it was one of the better protectorants. Are you aware of any protectorants that are safer?

I've read further about it at this point - it's what's recommended to use to treat your boats. According to the articles, it doesn't all just wash off. I personally plan to keep using it.

Except for the water (70-90%), none of the chemicals used in 303 are of any benefit to the environment. Link to 303 SDS below. 303 offers minimal benefit to hard surfaces that are in the water, such as the hull. Storing your boats in a way that block UV light (sunlight) is the most effective way to protect your boat (ie indoors or under a tarp).
