I know many people on this message board have accomplished this adventure. My son ended up doing it last summer and is finally posting his story on YouTube. The canoe he used was actually purchased from fellow board member RedlakePaddler. My wife and myself were a limited support crew helping him resupply in Iowa, St. Louis, Memphis, and picking him up in the gulf. If you're interested you can follow his journey on YouTube.
