Hi All, I have recently been considering the NRS Boundary Boot. I have some questions. First and foremost; how are they for wide feet? I am a 7.5 4E. I have heard that these tend to run narrow. Second; how are they for general walking about? I do a lot of photography so I tent to I spend a lot of time wandering about. Carrying a separate pair of hiking boots would be a big increase in weight. To summarize: How do they fit wide feet and are they good for general hiking. Thanks in advance.
I have narrow feet but I think they are fine for wide feet too. Actually they are fine for any width foot because they're neoprene and they have some elasticity. I wear them around camp during the shoulder seasons. I bring a pair of sandals to change into at camp during warmer temps just for breathability. They are comfortable and have just okay support but good traction. I'd caution against these boots if you have wide calves as they don't have much extra space in the calf. I wear a thick wool sock in mine to absorb moisture but if it is tight you could wear a thinner sock too. My wife and I are completely happy with the NRS Boundary Boot.
The boundary boots didn't work for me. I'm a female with bunions, so my feet aren't wide overall but I have to buy women's wide width or men's sizes to accommodate bunions. NRS wetshoes work fine since the neoprene stretches around the bunion area. The current boundary boots have non-stretchable plastic glued to the neoprene so they don't stretch much in the bunion area and they aren't wide to start with.
