On July 9th my buddy and I are taking our first trip into EP 37. Our plan is to head to Malberg to base camp and fish/take day trips for a few days. We're looking for any advice on places to see, campsites to target, portage information, etc. We're both experienced fisherman, but any and all fishing advice is welcome as well!

Malberg is a wonderful area in July! Walleyes will be in moving water which isn't hard to find on Malberg and River Lake, just look for narrow spots. There are a few pictographs downstream on Fishdance that would make for an excellent day trip. I wouldn't visit this area again without figuring a day of bass fishing on Boulder, I could not keep them off the hook when I was there 2 years ago. I must have caught 100 before finally hooking into a pike for dinner. The western portage out of Malberg to River was flooded due to beaver activity when I was there. It came up to my hip in some spots. There was a bunch of shallow muck where the first portage leaves Adams heading towards Boulder but there is a newly established portage detour to the east.

Tight lines!

Yeah...that portage has a lake in the middle, and a mudpit at one end.....LOL

It's a beautiful area, you're gonna love it!

You're close enough to Fishdance to take a day trip there to see the pictographs.
