Epic! Zephira, Tario and Quinn - that's a lot of bushwhacking. I felt good to have camped at one bushwhack lake and laid eyes on a second...well done you!

This last line cracks me up. "The rest of that trip was stuff everyone has done you know good fishing and campsites and a forest fire." Might be more of a story there.

Nothing makes you appreciate portage trails and campsite routes so much as a good bushwack....

Those are quite the bushwhack trips, Impressive. Let us know when you find the gold deposit.

I found these statements particularly interesting:

"To lighten the load we took no cooking gear"..."There is a fire ban so no cooking."

"The lake trout are very dark and the flesh is red. The water is tee stained but tastes good and so did the lake trout."

"The lake trout in Taro have white/gray flesh and taste better cooked."

Did you eat the lake trout raw, as in Sushi? Is that recommended?
Just add salt?

Savage!

Actually, yes, with a little sushi grade wasabi and soy. Some lakers are better sushi grade than others, but it was decent.

Note, we did take cooking gear for the 18-day trip, just not into Zephira so as to be able to do that in one go with a lighter load, since that was an in-and-back, where Cache River, Tario Creek, Tario Lake, Quinn Lake, to Lemay was a one way through route.
