Nice pics. I love that route although I take it MUCH slower than you and your group did. Sometimes camping at Polly or Koma. Camping at Kawashachong or Square and even Kawishiwi on the last night going out.
Going to Malberg in one day is quite a paddle.
Looks like you had great weather, too.
Thanks for posting.

We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.

Cool - Camped at that beach site on Malberg twice. Was great till the nite before we left it poured rain and we had to pack up our gear with wet sand all over it. Another spot I really liked was on Amber Lake, just off Fishdance, good fishing there too.

Stayed at that campsite last summer and it looks like from your picture the large down tree that was formerly attached to the tree stump table laying in front of the fire grate has been removed. Also sounds like you hit a good week for solitude as Malberg can be a bit busy at times.

Thanks for posting and great pictures. This area is on my consideration list for a October solo if my schedule and weather cooperate.
My tentative plan would be to leave home in Chanhassen around 4am and be putting in the water before 11am. Figured I'd get to Polly the first day, but just maybe I could make it to Malberg.
Also, from what I have read in the past I am a bit surprised you didn't see more people. Seems like this is a pretty popular lake.

This trip is on my short list. I’ll be shooting for the campsite up high in the narrows. We’ll see how my first solo trip goes shortly before I can make the plan for how far I go on day one.
I presume you double portaged?
