Going to be spending the first week of August on Seagull lake with my son and nephew. This will be my first time to the eastern side of BWCA. Any suggestions on areas to fish? I'm guessing lakers will be too deep to safely catch and release. Will also doing a short 2 night trip out of Round, so any suggestions there are welcome as well. Thanks in advance!

Seagull in August , First ,, lake trout release air as they come up , so it isnt like a walleye coming up from deep water . do a quick release and they should be fine , to target lake trout in august , you need something that can get you down to +30' , deep divers-,jigging- in line weights, which i've never tryed but many on here to help you out with that. best place to start would be the open west end and just trolling right down the middle of open water. how deep , not sure as i'm fishing in spring & fall times.
F.Y.I. always respect the wind on Seagull (monitor the forecast), it can change in a heartbeat . and the wind whips through the islands and can get nasty fast.

The issue isn't bringing in lakers from the deep, but releasing them into warm surface waters afterwards. Some studies show high mortality, and you would never know it.

Thanks for the info fellas!
We will be going in from Round towards Gillis area, any of those lakes better than others for pike action? Nothing beats a pike blowing up a streamer twitched just below the surface.
