Hello, I am a newcomer to these parts, and am helping our group plan for a trip in September. Any tips for managing/whittlin' down to size the campsite and portage GPX files on the BWCA site? GAIA tells me I need to get them into separate files of 1000 items or less. Thanks!

I feel old. I see you know English, but have no idea what your message is about. Sorry.

Which ones do you need? I might be able to make an extract in less time than it would take me to explain how.

If you or another member of your group has Garmin's Basecamp app on a computer, you would be able to select the campsite and portage waypoints you want and create a new GPX file. That is what I do.

That's excellent. Thanks for the tip!

I downloaded first on my computer all the waypoints, etc.
on the free trial. Zero issues connecting it later to my phone.
Zero issues with the size as well.

I believe Adam has a link to these already trimmed on the site possibly?

I believe if you upload it from your phone it is fine with over 1000. The desktop website only supports 1000.

Thanks for replying! We are a six person, 3 tent group, looking for GAIA friendly gps data (gpx/kml) with campsite ratings and portage info for Lakes 1 (put in), 2, 3, Hudson, Insula, Thomas, Ima, Disapointment, Parent, and Snowbank (take out) areas.
Hope you are having summer fun!

Ten lakes exceeds the time I have available for this. Follow Ausable’s advice above.

Yep, but thanks for looking into it for me...it's more data than I want to manage on my phone also, so I have figured out some more realistic options for my style. Happy Trails!
