Wow, 45 minutes one way on that river. Doubt a beaver could make it that fast.
I was a BWCA ranger for a few years and that river route would take us ~2 hours each way.

That sounds like my experience there 3 years ago. Same time of year. It was by far the most brutal paddling I've ever done. I swore I'd never paddle that Hog Creek again unless the water was high lol.

I didn't see any on my trip but the outfitter said he saw the biggest bull he'd ever seen along Hog Creek a few years ago.

I camped at the first site on Perent and saw moose.

3 years ago our departure from the lake was postponed while a young cow moose hung out in the mouth of hog creek.
