Krista and I went to Hawk Ridge today to see the migrating birds. We saw too many to list. It was a bird highway, many raptors a minute went by. Sharp Shinned Hawks, many Kestrels, Red Tailed Hawks, Bald Eagles., Ospreys, a few Peregrin Falcons, on and on. They ride the currents and stay close to shore, not wanting to fly over Lake Superior on their southward migration. Hawk Ridge is at the west end of Lake Superior, north side of Duluth.

Take flight at Hawk Ridge

Thanks for this. I'll put this place on my list of places to visit.

Please do, this place is special but lacking in funds. They need all the support they can muster.
Side note, look at the pic, no Golden Eagles or Rough Legged Hawks this year compared to their average, perhaps it is the migration time.

I was there on the 15th before meeting Boonie for dinner. I was hoping Margie, who is one of the directors for the organization, would be there that day. She wasn't. I've known her since she banded birds at Sugar Loaf Cove when I was a member.
