I'm guessing they will catch this one soon, tomorrow may be its last chance to grow, this is about the only time of year that hardwood leaf litter fires get that size. I've done a few fall fires in hardwood leaf litter that got 50ish acres, most we kept way smaller than that. Sounds like they are having trouble with access for hand crews.

Crosby Fire Update for October 10, 2025
Size: 210 ac | Containment: 35% | Cause: Undetermined
Start Date: 10/8/2025
Current Situation: Firefighters have made progress containing the fire, which is now 35% contained. With improved access to the fire’s perimeter on the ground, firefighters were able to see and map where the fire had burned through the understory leaf litter. Based on GIS map analysis, the fire is 210 acres.
Over the past two days, firefighters have established a handline across the north edge of the fire, using leaf blowers and hand tools to clear out the leaf litter and other vegetation that can catch and carry fire or hold heat. Yesterday, water scooping aircraft and a helicopter were used to support firefighters on the ground to help cool down the fire’s heat along the perimeter. Minimal rain fell over the fire area last night but was insufficient to extinguish the fire.
Planned Actions: Firefighters will continue their work establishing the hand line supported by tracked vehicles. Water scooping aircraft will be used today as needed.

OgemaBlackstone: "As of Thursday evening, they said its 25 percent contained.
Calm now with forecast for winds increasing, gust up to 30. A little rain in the forecast for Sunday.![]()
The draft location looks like a cocktail to me, odd."

Crosby Fire Fact Sheet
Date: 10/11/2025 Size: 260 acres Containment: 45%
Cause: Lightning Start Date: 10/8/2025
Current Situation: The cause of the Crosby Fire has been determined to be a result of a lightning strike. With the expected northwest winds yesterday, the fire was moderately active and grew an additional 50 acres. Firefighters continued making progress establishing a handline along the west and east sides of the fire’s perimeter, taking advantage of natural features to tie in the control line. Water-scooping aircraft and a helicopter continued to support firefighters on the ground by dropping water to cool and slow down the active flames.
Planned Actions: Firefighters plan to establish a hose lay on the east side of the fire where downed stumps and logs are smoldering and holding heat. The hose lay will improve firefighters' access to water, which helps cool down lingering hot spots. Handline construction will continue along the remaining uncontained portions of the fire’s perimeter.
