The Aurora borealis was the best ever tonight. You didn’t even need a camera to see incredible shows of red pink and green. I even saw them vividly in the south and actually right now they’re all in the south and nothing in the north. It was just otherworldly. Hopefully everybody else got to see them too!

Wow! That is really amazing.

They were bright to the naked eye and they started around 7:00 so we didn’t even have to stay up late.

They were absolutely spectacular here in Iowa. By far the best I've ever seen.

Amazing pictures everyone! We could even see it from just outside Chicago despite our neighbor's annoying 24/7 lights!

Was on the way home from hunting and pulled over down a dark road north of Motley MN. Did my best to enjoy the show while dodging deer on the highway.

West of Des Moines, cell phone,, unedited , 3.5 sec exposure. Editing actually made pics worse the event was that vivid. Clearly saw curtain effect , deep red and greens with naked eye , top 5 event all time Ive seen , certainly the best ever in IA

I spent most my life within feet of the northern border. Now I am within feet of the southern border, and I brought the northern lights with me. This is near Boquillas, Mexico. More reds and very little greens. This is very rare for the lights to be seen on the Rio Grande.

Super cool - I was so happy I was still awake and not in my pajamas. I drove a few miles in the metro area to get north of an annoying sky light. Was really nice panoramic view, but my favorite pictures are the ones with trees. So tonight I will shoot for finding trees with enough of an opening to see the show.

Very cool it could be seen on the Mexican border!!!

My cousin who lives in Atlanta said she saw them for the first time down there. Crazy how far south they were visible.

I looked up from my camp at Dead Horse Point State Park near Moab Utah and thought it was light pollution from Moab! Never thought I would see Aurora this far south! Heavy clouds here tonight unfortunately. Hope YOU see them!

What amazed me the most being in the south metro of the Twin Cities, is that I went out late and it wasn't super visible to the eye, but I took pics with the phone to the N,S,E,W, and straight above........and it was complete coverage of the sky. A dome of Northern Lights.

Yes, this is how it was for me to in MN. Towards the end they were strongest in the South. Best light show ever!

I spent 36 years never witnessing them and now I have gotten to see them the last two years! Really cool to see but crazy that they are becoming more visible further and further south.

I'm no space weather expert, but from the simplified version that was explained to me, we are roughly (2024-2025) in the solar maximum of the 11-year solar cycle. This doesn't necessarily mean more aroura activity but does increase the chances of seeing them.

Absolutely. I remember seeing the lights in the late 60s.
You could see even see colors under the street lights in the East Side of St Paul.
