Heading in through Seagull mid-January for some fishing and camping on the ice. I've seen it said there's some areas with current and thinner ice. Does anyone have any intel/maps on those areas to avoid or tips for navigating all the islands between, for which the current may be an issue. Thanks!

You might want to go where the Huskies go, but Please don't eat that yellow snow.
Sorry can't help you. Good Luck, sounds fun.

There was this thread from 2017, RainGearRight's 2nd post includes a marked up map:

I went in by Trail's End campground once a long time ago, I don't remember much except that I did punch my foot through the ice at some point on the Seagull River, I think near where it empties into the lake. It was only calf deep or so and didn't present a problem.

Was just looking at that option rather than the OP Entry on the East shore. Looks like it would save a couple kms.

That was my reason too I think, plus maybe avoiding all the activity at Blankenberg. I would definitely be careful though. It looks like there's a trail along the shore from the campground to where the river flows into Seagull Lake, might be able to use that rather than travelling on the river.

I would like to do Seagull again now with more experience. It would be cool to loop around the whole lake, or maybe do a day trip to Paulson. Have fun!

FWIW, the campsite marked with a “B” on that map is #469, and it is heavily used in the warmer months. It has one of the best canoe landing sites on the entire lake. (My buddy and I refer to it as “Church Camp” for its attractiveness for groups.) I suspect that gathering firewood nearby could be an issue for that reason.

No doubt. Looks like an accessible and popular spot.
