We are looking into a trip to Trout lake this year, the one by Vermillion. Our group is in our 50's and we no longer want to portage. Looking for campsite info and fishing tips. We will be going in the beginning of June 2026

I've gone in that entry point the year I was recovering from a broken ankle, though we camped on Pine rather than Trout. While there are motorboats allowed on Trout, it seemed like an underused lake with tons of campsites. From Vermillion, there is a truck portage or a shorter, easy portage for canoes.

You can get into Pine Lake via the north end if you take the creek versus the long portage at the south. However, the creek is very winding and depending on water levels has numerous beaver dams to pull over.
