So January 10th is the average length of time to break those New Years Resolutions. Time to embrace those old habits, sit on the couch, watch TV, drink pop, eat donuts, and sell that treadmill :-)

Actually, I encourage all to focus on any and all self improvement goals as we proceed into this year!

I don't make any resolutions, so I'm ahead of the game ;)

When in doubt I would encourage anyone stressed about changing their behavior in the new year to remember Dewey Finn from School of Rock.

We will deal with this crapola tomorrow…

Cheers, scat

I joined a challenge to log 2026 miles this year (hike, bike, walk, paddle, run, swim). I don't consider it a resolution, just another competition to enjoy. Working to motivate me so far. Just logged day 9 and have 10 and 11 planned out.

Wait, I haven’t started on them yet’

Are you saying you haven’t started quitting.
Or you quit getting started.

Sounds like an oxymoron and a dilemma all in one.

I hate when that happens but it’s better than a coincidence I guess.

Ha-ha
I’ll have to let you know once I figure it out.
One of them is I will start is getting in better shape for an epic (to me) 12 day adventure from PP up the Man Chain, to the Falls Chain, through Kawnipi, then down Hurlburt, Kahshahpiwi, and back to Prairie Portage. Only been up the Man Chain so far so the rest is new to me.
But another resolution is a grand slam with some monster fish!
BTW, any advice and recommendations are welcomed. It’s only my fourth trip into Quetico, So happy that they extended current RABCs yet again,

Somewhere I learned when you make a resolution and then don't keep it you lie to yourself. Since I don't like to associate with liars I don't make resolutions.
I have told myself I really want to enjoy a dark sky and quiet and I can't think of a nicer place to do that than the BWCA.

At my age...soon to be 69...I work out year round so I can go on another BW trip and be able to paddle and portage and enjoy my time out there.

There is a pub I went to a few times and all the bartenders had tshirts on that said - Rehab is for quitters

I always thought that was a bit odd

Hmm Some kind of backstory there…

Not a resolution but an everyday mantra -

Be happy in my life today!

No quitting or being disappointed. Just work to be happy every day.

It's kind of fun to observe at the local YMCA. Over the holiday break and into the new year you'll see a few folks that used to be regulars, some new folks that clearly don't have a routine, and a whole bunch of young folks apparently on break that come to hang out and stare at their phones. Hoping for normalcy tomorrow although I'm not angry about the college age girls.
