I'm looking to finish off my BWCA inspired home office with a desk that fits the theme. I've seen desks on Etsy that are a wood top and gaps in the wood are filled in with a blue resin that resemble a river. Most of what I see out there resembles more a straight river or ocean themes.

Ideally, I'd like to find someone who works with you to make the tabletop resemble more like a series of lakes, similar to a topo BWCA map look. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this or references they would share?

why not just epoxy over a big map onto your desk? or use plexiglass over the map so you can switch out the map and see new territory?

There was a guy coming up to the Ely Blueberry Arts Festival for several years that did wooden lake maps. Pick your favorite lake and he could do a wall hanging for you. I have no idea who that was but do an internet search for wood lake contour maps. Several custom shops pop up and I'm sure you can find one willing to work with you on something that fits the picture in your mind. You could get the lakes resin filled or if doing a contour map, maybe have them color stain the reliefs and top that off with a piece of glass. One of the companies called Lake Art has some pretty cool stuff on their site. They do 3D lake maps and laser engraving details. Sounds like a really cool project - good luck with it and if it pans out, post some pics!
