Looking for route suggestions! First time doing EP 14 and I’d like to take out at Moose/Portage River North. It’ll be a 5 day trip with just my husband and me. We’re experienced BWCA paddlers and we single portage. So willing to do a longer loop but want to know the must-sees and options with this route.

TIA!

The inner loop is great. You can easily get to fat on day 1, but you may have to push in further to eugene if the site is occupied. The initial hill climb at the unmarked portage to fat is a bear, but after that it's smooth sailing. We did eugene-gebe in 1 day but it was exhausting. I would suggest staying on finger and giving yourself a longer day to hang out on gebe. Its one of those gems. Check out the stone chairs while you're there. We like the site, but we had hammocks instead of a tent. I can see it being a tough tent site. Oyster is a busier lake but the fishing is pretty good. The other option is to do less portaging and stay somewhere on LLC in lady boot bay. You can make it out to EP16 in a day from either of those spots.

Head to Little Loon, North Lake, Finger, (Try the Island site with the Erratic), Gebe, Oyster, Agnes and out. As stated, see the stone chairs on Gebe. I didn't know about them when I went through. That is a perfect amount of time for fast travelers.

Devil's Cascade is a definite must see whether you head up to Loon or head to Shell. also the portage from Finger to Pocket is also a must see and of course the pictos on LLC.
