Nice little trip! Love the canoe name! Also love the backrest, I have the same one in one of my solo canoes. I’m glad you got a chance to get out and shake off the rust before your longer trip, that’s always refreshing. Solo travel is so much fun and rewarding. I’ve yet to get back on those Nordic trails near Slim lake, but I’ve heard they’re beautiful. Must have been fun to have the place all to yourself. No judgement on the sat radio, whatever adds to your enjoyment is all that matters. I can usually tune in Vikings/Twins games from my weather radio while in the BWCA, so I often listen to games during the dinner hour. Funny story, two years ago, it was border battle week during my fall solo, and I could only get the Packers radio broadcast. I couldn’t find/pick up the Vikings broadcast. So, I had to listen to the game from a pro Packer viewpoint, and it was actually a good broadcast. That was the game where the Vikings jumped out to a huge lead at Lambeau and then nearly choked it away at the end.

Well done. I love the extra flexibility that goes along with being solo and early/late season. When I went to Slim for a Halloween weekend solo I camped at the site closest to the EP portage and took advantage of the trails that you can access from it when it got windy. I have some great memories from a few trips that I exited a day early and spent a night at a campground or bunkhouse.

Nice Trip and report!
I commend your decision making. Wind is no fun, especially solo. I've only done two solo trips so far, but really enjoy the flexibility.
I haven't settled in on a name for my Prism....I think it needs a few more trips before it earns a name. It still has the Rockwood Logo (bought it from a guy that bought it from them)...so leaning towards Roxanne. I know...no nearly as creative as Ryder.
