The detour north thru Duluth is nothing, coming south is ok once you exit on to superior st from 61. Stay on it until a few blocks past Sammy’s pizza the. Turn left and head down to London rd.

The detour around the Stewart fire starts by the second holiday/circle K and comes out at silver bay 47 miles later! We couldn’t see anything but could smell the wet burnt odor of a fire. Not sure how much longer the detour will be in place. We went north in the morning today and back south in the afternoon and no rain had fallen. It was very foggy, however.

We did see an assortment of law enforcement along the detour and hwy 61.

I went north on Saturday to pick up a canoe from Rockwood (YAY!) and then back south towards home on Sunday. I'll agree with Mocha that the detour coming south in Duluth was nothing. A few minutes longer as you take a parallel street just a bit up the hill. Very easy.

There was the fire detour on both Saturday and Sunday. Long route to get between Two Harbors and Silver Bay. But easy to follow and traffic moved along quickly. Just plan for and extra 30 minutes on the trip.

I'm not sure if this is happening yet or not.

Thanks so much for the info! We head up on Sunday May 31st so this is great to hear! I have been scouting every tiny road to find ways around but it sounds like I wont need to.
