Pickerel.
That lake is just so beautiful and vast. And when I’m on that lake, I know I’m in Quetico. It’s not remote, nor intimate. But it makes my heart sing.
I watched this big ole thunderstorm brew over the lake for several hours. As day turned to night, it drifted off into a wicked lightning thunderhead as it moved away from me.

A couple of my favorite things in Quetico are the good fishing and some awesome campsites. A big part of what makes a lake a contender for being on my favorites list is my experience(s) there. Here are a few that come to mind:

My favorite lakes are in Quetico since 95% of my trips have been there, and almost exclusively the north side.
To me, nothing beats paddling the first lake as we head out on a trip, mainly Beaverhouse and Pickerel. The excitement, the fresh, sweet-smelling air, maybe the song of the white-throated sparrow... there is just no other sensation like it. There are a few lakes within the park that are special for one reason or another, but the entry point lakes are at the top of my list.

I've loved every lake that I have traveled through in Quetico. Two stand out though:
The middle lake of the three unnamed lakes between the north and south arms of Quetico. Spent two nights there during a nasty cold front and just loved both the campsite and the lake.
Jesse Lake - I love the multiple islands and small bays. Alas, weather keeps conspiring against my attempts to spend a day just exploring and fishing Jesse and the unnamed lake to the south. Heading through there this July with a planned fishing/rest day on Jesse. Fingers crossed for reasonable weather this time around.
This summer's trip will include approximately 28-30 lakes and all but four will be new lakes for me, so the list of favorites is definitely going to grow!

I'm a pretty big fan of Jean (4 visits) but forced to choose would probably pick the park's eponymous lake (6 visits). Size matters! :) I tell people that Quetico lake is like the nicest lake on the small island on the coast of Maine where I grew up (it has really nice freshwater ponds on it) multiplied by 100, or possibly more.
