About how long has it taken groups to get to Cummings from the Burntside portage?

Treebear probably did it in about 2 hours last week, single portaging with a veteran crew.

If I was taking my big, mostly retired family group that likes to bring the kitchen sink (triple portage) I'd figure 7 hours.

I've done that route a few times. When we were hustling and single portaging, I think it was about 3 hours. When we double portaged and stopped to pick a few berries, it was probably about 5 hours.

I've done it many times. 4-5 hours is about right. Depends on the group and weather. Heat kicked our butts one year.

Did most of this route a couple years ago. From the start of the portage on Burntside to the first island campsite on Cummings for an average group would be about 4-5 hours. The Burntside to Crab portage is long but fairly level and easy walking.

You may already be planning this, but tows are availble to get you accross Burntside. Without a tow add another hour or so to cross burntside and hope for light winds.
