Hey group! We are heading into the North Side of Kawishiwi from entry point 30, any favorite camping spots you would recommend just keeping this one an easy trip in. Mi
August, mostly just taking the 16 year old boys out for 4 nights for fishing and exploring. Been in the BWCA for 45 years, so know it well, just have not been in this area. Been down the canoe highway into Insula many times, just not down the river. Any fishing holes you want to give up also : )

Have you checked out the maps section already?

Didn't check but, there may be some information in these old threads.

I have, just seeing if someone has a little more insight. I am all over those maps.

One of my favorite areas. There are some BIG fish in there, and some turtles who are well trained to find stringers- beware! The long portage (608) on the Northern side by Conchu lake is pretty neat- even just to drop canoes and walk. There's a falls, and some historic logging artifacts along the way- iron rungs in the rocks, etc.

You can make a full loop around the triangle, or just do out and back. It's very doable. the campsites on the North Arm are pretty nice, as are the 2 south of the 22 rod portage (1133 and 1134). The one tucked behind the island (1136) is a family favorite of ours- but we pick based on wind, bugs and availability.

Great area and have a great trip!
