So I'm headed up at the end of next week to spend a few days off the grid. I'm entering in a Big Lake via Whispering Pines Lodge and am looking to pop on over to Big Moose and Cummings. With the dry weather I'm curious what the portages are potentially going to look like for Big Lake --> Duck Lake --> Big Moose or Big Lake --> Lapond Lake --> Duck Lake --> Big Moose. Any insight?

I am curious if it's gonna be like the Mudro EP where you end up having the walk through mud and drag your canoe a good amount before you're ever hitting water if the weather has been dry. I just want to be sure my expectations are in line with reality since I haven't gone in at this EP before or traveled to Cummings.

This is a birthday trip for myself and a getaway for a friend who is going through a bad divorce

In my experience, I would say that ( within reason)drier conditions would actually be better for the areas you mention as most of the portages & landings can get quite mushy.

I try to give some portage details in my reports. Hopefully they give you some idea of what you'll be looking at.

Laxt year the two portages to get into Big Moose
From Big Lake were a workout, both start with
bogs snd the trails had numerous downed trees.
The portage from Duck Lake into Big Moose, considering
The longish bog start, distance and downed
trees was rough.

The portage into Cummings is long, other than the distance
The only issue were some downed trees.

There is definitely some type 2 fun to be had.
