I'm taking the whole family (kids ages 16 to 25) into Crooked June 24-30. We have a tow to Bottle Portage. Any suggestions on camp sites and fishing spots? Does anyone know how full the camp sites have been lately?
I’ve been through Bottle a handful of times. Crooked is great, but don’t just pass through Iron. I really like that lake. There are a number of great campsites and you can still easily day trip to Crooked if you like.
The whole lake is a great for fishing, target the rocky shores of Friday, Thursday and Wednesday bays for smallmouth and the moving waters between the bays for walleye. There are big pike roaming throughout so troll whenever you’re moving.
As for sightseeing, the international boarder markers are fun to see for the first time. Kinda cool for the kids to understand.
Fishing by the old cabin near basswood falls is good too.
