Here is the run down on permit cancellations in June:
For each district, the spread of lead time showing days between when a sold-out permit reopened and the trip date it was for. Paddle (OP) and motor (OM) shown separately, each as a share of its own alerts so the timing shape is comparable despite different volumes.

Then by entry point, for overnight paddle permit cancellations during June, this is the quantity of permits cancelled by entry point and month:

I think those are crazy numbers. Meaning that I'm so surprised at the number of cancellations!

And so many are cancelled shortly before their original departure date. It certainly explains the lack of available permits.

For me, and many others, I don't bother with 'permit day'. Permits open up like crazy as time moves on.

Some really interesting things there; thanks for sharing.

Odd that Overnight Motor permit holders cancel closer to the permit date in the Kawishiwi and Gunflint districts (when compared to Paddlers), but the opposite is true in LaCroix (albeit with much fewer permits). Overall trend is pretty clear.

Would be interested to know if Overnight Paddle and Overnight Motor permit holders cancel their permits at roughly the same rate or if there is a difference there as well.
