Sounds like an awesome trip! I know it's easy to look back and say 'duh'... But leaving fish on a stringer overnight is almost a guaranteed snack for a snapper. Not trying to bash you... I've done it, too.

I've had a Mink grab my stringer of Rock Bass in Cloud Lake down towards the American Border while shore fishing back in the 1970's. Never encountered a Snapping Turtle in my life but co-workers from Atikokan said they were in that area. Now I see TBT News reports from Maki's on Whitefish Lake June 28/2025 and Chippewa Park in July 3/ 2026 of Snapping Turtle females digging nests and laying eggs so they are here now.

Way cool! Sounds like the perfect trip to experience a little bit of everything the boundary offers! I stopped in that narrows for lunch on my way thru there in June. I agree that your site looked like a really nice place to camp! Thanks for sharing!
