Was checking available permits for the week of Aug 9th (Already have one) as I was curious to see what it looks like.

Wondering if they have started shutting down EP permits for the ones they know are burned out and won't be open for beyond the current shut down date. Looked like not many permits available.

I see one available that week for ep 14 Little Indian Sioux North, which I’m pretty sure is in the burn area. I had been tracking open permits for the week prior to the one you mentioned, they look similar as far as availability over the past couple weeks, so I don’t think so, but I would guess that would be happening somewhat soon.

I think it is too early for them to have that level of assessment. However, I speculate they may start to open some of the EPs that were clearly unaffected and wait on others.

Currently on Friends of the Boundary Waters webinart and there was a report that some east side EP are expected to open for daytips on the July 27th (Cook County only) and barring any increased fire activity certain EPs will open for overnight starting July 30th (Cook and Lake counties). No reports on which exact ones yet as USFS is still assessing.

I’m guessing this might give us a guess as to which EPs will also open first for overnight permits.
