The fire ban is currently still in effect. I would monitor the BWCA page on recreation.gov before your trip to stay up to date.

How great is the Fire Maple for the price!?!?! We love ours and it was half the cost of jet boil. We got the Polaris, which one do you have?

Our outfitter advised my group our stoves had to have a shut off valve. Apparently, the type of stove that uses stereo-type fuel is out of regulation for Boundary Waters fire ban. I’m guessing this would apply to alcohol stoves like the ones made out of aluminum cans, too.

You are correct about the alcohol stoves being banned unless they have a shutoff valve. See the FAQs in the current fire restriction order:

If you are not worried about cooking and looking for campfire ambiance, try the Biolite candle flicker inflatable lights. They are solar charged, compress down to be very small, and provide a nice glow if you can't have a fire. I use 3-4 of them - creates a good light and a "campfire " feel. Decent alternative.

The bigger inflatable Biolite solar lights are great too!. Take two on all my travels. Had the power go out in the Caribbean at a rental and they provided light until they restored power.

It’s still very dry up there. The fire danger sign yesterday was set at very high. Our legs were brown because of how much dust we kicked up from walking around the campsite.

We bring LED string lights from Luci lights. Three brightness levels and we line them around our group tarp. We can turn them on high to cook dinner after dark, or on low when just sitting around in the evening.
