Are motorboats an issue on Mountain Lake? My tripping group is looking at traveling on Mountain, Watap, and Rove lake for our trip next year. I've read an older post that motorboats on the Canadian side of Mountain Lake were an issue and I'm looking for recent experiences with boats and noise in this area. My understanding is the Canadian side of these lakes is La Verendrye Provincial Park and motorboats are allowed.

Been thru there twice, never saw a motorboat or any other boat or human being for that matter.

I've spent many nights on nearby Rose Lake which also borders La Verendrye. I've never seen any watercraft (except canoeists camping in BWCA) on the Canadian side of the lake. I have heard motorboats from Rose, though, on the Canadian side, probably on North Lake.

Went through Mountain Lake in 2024 around Labor Day and never saw a motorboat either.

Don't know if you fish but caught some big walleyes on Moose Lake slow trolling crawler rigs, a 30 and 27"mid lake in front of the first campsite if I recall correctly. Was told can catch lakers right in front of the landing from Moose to Mountain but was traveling so didn't try it.

We had wondered if boats from Canada could get through the narrows from Arrow Lake to Rose Lake.

You can drive to North Fowl Lake from the Canadian side but you would have to portage to Moose Lake so you are unlikely to see any motor boats on Moose. Rose Lake is an easy access by boat from Arrow Lake by lining a short distance. Fort Charlotte is hard to get to through the bush from the Canadian side but you can canoe to where the Arrow meets the Pigeon and paddle down to Out Law Bridge Old hwy 61 and drive to that location easily as well.

Used to be able to drive to Mountain Lake from the Canadian side no idea of the road condition that one may be quite grown in as it is not maintained like many bush road.

I’ve seen motor boats on Moose, but not Mountain.

The time we caught the big walleyes I had a cabin at a sh**hole resort called Ron’s Lodge on North Fowl. We portaged a couple motors to boats stashed on the Moose Lake portage and caught some beauties in the rain . Just before we left was a double rainbow over the lake. Good memory.

Nice the walleye probably get bigger in Moose Lake than North/ South Fowl Lake lots of Small Mouth Bass in Moose Lake too..

More often Weekend Warriors fish the easy access drive to lakes as the bush roads grow in the traffic will lessen as everyone will typically wait for the other guy to cut the road/trail/path until they can no longer reach the lake easily. Bush roads tend to go through a life cycle of stages vehicular drive to, quad/snow machine/ walking path/ disappearing path/ and finally gone..

Yes much bigger fish in Moose Lake than N Fowl. I shouldn't have said I didn't see any motorboats cuz I was in one haha. Second time was in a canoe, but again never saw anyone else.

Usually larger Walleye in Oligotrophic Lake Trout Lakes than in Mesotrophic or Eutrophic Lakes I've found they have a white belly where the other two lake type have yellow bellies.
I Caught my biggest Walleye 10lb in Bukemiga Lake Armstrong Station Ontario in 50ft of water at the T-Off . The OPP just opened the hwy# 527 on Thursday I saw Ziggy Laybourne (Livin It N Diggin it LTD) on Thunder Bay TV News he and a small group saved the town from burning building a fire wall around the town with bush road equipment including 4 back hoes.
