Like many of you, my trip was sadly canceled this year. To ease my pain, I decided to attempt a daily haiku on a Quetico theme. Admittedly, they are a bit primitive, but I enjoyed pondering what I love about the Q.

Here is my first:

Loons

Haunting, mournful calls
Welcome my backwoods return,
Telling me I'm home.

Awesome!

Seagull Lake

Shore looks out of reach
Wind and waves have to be breached
Head down paddle hard

Sweet!

Don’t get me started, I’ll wake up at 2 am trying to figure out what rhymes with Ogishkemuncie Haha.
Nice loon haiku anything creative is cool.

Dreams of lakes unseen
Like Ge Be On Equet or
Ogishkemuncie

Wilderness Nights

Brilliant starry skies...
Wonder and majesty reign
O'er this tiny orb.

August Solitude

Lone canoe moves on,
Solo paddler tracks the deep,
Wilderness is home.

Nice!

Winding path through pine,
And birch, I reach the latrine,
Damn! Forgot TP!

But I will make do,
And use what I see at hand,
Damn! Poison Ivy!

Startling surface strike,
Awesome leaps and surging runs
Thrill my angling soul.

On the no name beach on the no name lake east of Side Lake.
A lovely quiet journey that so few will take.
We just enjoyed bake packer pecan rolls made to the recipe of Jeffery Peak.
With a tummy full of doughy goodness a place of relief I must go seek.

I found the perfect place to take a poop.

Oy damn, I forgot my scoop.
