I am wondering about the same thing. I am heading a group that is trying to decide whether to go in via Mudro or Little Indian Souix north. I went on a trip via LIS to Shell and surounding lakes several years ago, and if my memory serves me right, I would say there were nice fly fishing opportunities. We caught a lot of northerns spin fishing with floating rapalas in the weeds. We really had some good fishing, but I've heard that the Fourtown region might be better for fishing in general.
Any thoughts?

When are you going in? My group is going in through ep 23 and up to crooked the second week of july. I'll be slinging flies and so might another guy but I don't have info on that area yet. EP 14 was pretty kind to me 2 years ago when I was there. I wished I had some Hex patterns with me at the time though, either whitefish or tullibee (didn't get a good look) were smacking them on Loon Lake

We fished on Fourtown for four days last June and did real well every day on surface lures in the shallows near rocks and such. Our camp was on the north shore above the islands you have to pass to continue to Boot. So we fished the bay which points towards Boot most days. The water temps were in the mid 60's and the smallmouth were on the beds.
We also did a day trip to Moosecamp and caught our largest fish of the trip on the south shore about half way down where the water becomes more shallow, again on surface lures. I fished foam body bass poppers, any color was good.
