Good report.

We are heading into this area at the end of this month. How long did it take you to get to Fairy???

It sounds like the fishing was good everywhere you went too.

Sounds like a good time had by all! I have fished Fairy lake several times with good success! Moosecamp also has nice smallies and walleye!

airmorse-we put in around 9am and got to Fairy about 2pm I think. We had the wind with us on Fourtown. The whole trip really, if you can believe that. I missed the 1st portage north of Mudro and had to mountain goat it up to the trail. Cost us some time. We were faster on the way out, but we weren't racing. Nick is kind of a dawdler and was taking pictures. Probably, 4 hours is reasonable. Have fun. I did.

Really enjoyed your report.I look forward to our trip on the same route , end of August,
There is an interesting article about this area in the spring issue of the BWJ,yes it was a big logging area.

Thanks muskrat, I'll pick one up. I just let my sub to BWJ run out last winter. There are loga all along the Moosecamp River. I kept thinking I wanted to be like the guy on the tv show Axmen who hauls out the old logs from the river and makes mantles and such out of them. Would love to try to portage one.

Great report, and thanks for the recon on the campsites. We are doing the same route possibly in a couple weeks. How long did it take to get from Moosecamp back to Mudro? We are trying to decide on staying the last night on Moosecamp, or one of the southern sites on Fourtown.

If I remember correctly. We left Moosecamp at 8:30am, it was an hour and a half down the Moosecamp River, 45 min to an hour across Fourtown (with a slight breeze at our back) and we were at the brewpub in town at 1pm. About 4 hours from Moosecamp to Mudro. About an hour and a half from the south end of Fourtown out. I double portage.

Thanks for the good report. Surprised you were able to get on the water Wednesday. We were windbound that day. We got out in the evening for a short time in the rain.

we went to moose camp from mudro on memorial weekend, stayed on moosecamp and went back the same way through the river. would highly recommend going on the river to or from moosecamp. about 4 to 4.5 hours one one. very nice lake and solitude not very far away.

Thanks for the report. Brought back a lot of great memories from my trip through there last summer. We stayed on the north end of Fourtown and actually talked about how we wished we would have explored the river some. We took a day trip over to Gun and now I wish we would have wet our lines a little more in Fairy. We did have some success on Gun. Near portage from Fairy there is a long large rock wall. We did pretty well there and picked up several bass and walleyes.
