What are your BW plans, if any, this year or next?

Ron -- Sorry, just spotted this post tonight -- it sits down off the bottom of my computer screen where I do not normally venture.

I'm doing three days with my brother and his kids, then a solo the last ten days of August.

Considering an Albemarle Sound trip in late September/early October, probably to coincide with the full moon. Any interest in joining?

Thinking of base camping at Durant's Island for a few nights, then moving on as the spirit moves us.

So far I have not mentioned the Albemarle trip to anybody else. Thinking of posting it on the BWCA board. Perhaps a few Outerbanks paddlers will join.

I also have been thinking about a trip down the intercoastal waterway sometime in the future. Maybe a winter trip?

I'll post it on the big board for another "East Coast Chapter" trip and see what happens.

OBX is great from late September until mid-December ... no bugs, snakes or other irritations. Low humidity, cool nights, (mostly) warm days.

Well, you know. Pretty much like Richmond except milder due to the warm waters.

Intracoastal intrigues me also. It passes in front of my house on the Albemarle. The trip has been done before, but I've also heard stories of some rough spots. Still, its a winter trip idea.

I'm thinking of only a week's worth of paddling on the ICW.

Hmmm ... a week on the ICW sounds interesting. What time of year are you thinking? Jan or Feb or, early spring? I think Georgia has some very interesting areas to explore. -- Cliff

We normally do 4 days on the AT between Christmas and New Years. If it falls through for some reason, I'm thinking of going then. Otherwise, maybe mid or late Feb.

I have not done any winter camping since boy scout days in Minnesota. Then, we dug snow caves in twenty-degree below zero weather, started a fire at the entrance and stayed up all night feeding the fire.

I'd love to try it again this winter if you have room on any of your trips. Unfortunately, Christmas to New Years is out for me.
