Nice report. Every trip has some lessons learned opportunities in it! Adversity is all part of the experience :-) Interesting note about the gear you found, my guess is that a bear came into camp and the campers hopped in their canoe and took off, leaving their stuff behind... It almost happened to me once but we waited the bear visit out in our canoes watching him until he left...

Enjoy your next trip!

Packing too much food is something I almost always do. Hope you get to try the BW again sometime. Thanks for reporting.

We just got back from a trip from Skipper to Cross Lake. I managed to "face plant" on a portage on the rocks in a shallow stream. My husband did not react the way I hoped - like he said "get up...this is not time to get hurt". Later he said the "A BWCA trip is like a marriage encounter - it brings out the worst and best in us". I thought of that when you wrote about your hubby's attempt at staying dry. Fortunately, the things we treasure are when we share moments that are the "best of us"! I am lucky to share many of those on each trip we take.

Nice trip report. I remember our very first BW trip -- we packed way too much. After many years we have scaled down on food and clothes and each year we keep refining our "camping list" and we now have very manageable packs.

A couple of comments -- no trip is complete without someone getting wet feet - or losing their balance while getting in or out of a canoe! Also - canoeing with your husband or partner is definitely a true test of a relationship.

Thanks again for the great report and pictures!
