Love the trip report...everything but the hook part. YUK hated that.

You just decide you are not going to single or double portage and you will take an extra 1/2 hour at the portage. Had all the time in the world and enjoyed every minute of it.

I was up in Ely that week and the weather was pretty rough, just because it was so windy and wet almost the whole week (but with lots of short breaks). Looks like you had a good time anyway. If you're not portaging in too much, bringing all the equipment probably makes sense. Nice set up!
