We have about a foot of new snow as of this morning here in Brainerd and it's still spitting a few flakes. It is currently 28 degrees here and if it stays below freezing I am going to go pack a trail in the woods today. It was too warm yesterday to pack a trail- great for making snowmen though!

I just got back in from packing a trail in the back yard. Pretty heavy snow- more like taking a walk on skis than skiing, but now when it gets cold it should speed up. I have almost two miles of trails out my back door so try to ski it every day in addition to skiing the groomed trails around here and elsewhere in the state.

Just returned from skiing the Paul Bunyan Arboretum in Brainerd/Baxter. All groomed and in excellent shape. With the colder weather forecast for the next week everything should set up well and skiing should be great! (and I have the week off) :)

Is this going to be the start of the 2010/2011 ski season?
Hope so, I'm ready!

Snow?

purchased first set of XC skis this last tuesday, unfortunately, the boots are on order and wont be here until Monday :-(...

When i purchased, i figured i had weeks and weeks until i would get to use them anyway.

It will be fun watching the wife truck around on her first set (Purchased last Wednesday). maybe i'll just stand in the back yard with my ski up like i'm doing an interview while she goes back and forth a bit:-).

Oh well, knowing the weather forecasters around here, it's all hype anyway.

here's to hoping they are right and i am wrong...

Nice skis- I'm sure they'll serve you well. Waxable or waxless?

This is the type of situation I love to have...ski or track pheasants and grouse? Maybe some of both? I'll see more pheasant tracks while skiing, I'm sure. I tried the grouse hunting near Macgregor today, but with all the snow clinging to every branch and twig, it was very wet walking...beautiful, but not good hunting.

Kevlar, maybe next year you would take Hazel and me grouse hunting? Never hunted, dont have a desire to deer hunt, but harbor a longing to grouse hunt. Hazel is game for it too.
