Hi Woodpecker!

I have an exhibit in duluth the may 21-june 21. It is a really pretty space so I am excited about that.

I did one painting I like this winter.

I am experimenting painting more on birchbark-- so that has been interesting and kind of frustrating.

If you go to my website and click on NEW ART, you can see my most recent work.

thanks for posting this.

Woodpecker-
Just finalized a commission for a couple.
It's duck stamp time, so I'll be busy with that.
And I'm working on a canvas- bull moose.
I have been out of the loop for awhile, as I have been remodeling my work space/ man cave.

mp: wonderful! Love the wolf especially. Do you paint from photos?

01/11/2010 03:10PM
Yes. The wolf came from photos I took at the International Wolf Center, and the background came from a ski trip in the Ely area, on Wood Lake.

Plums.....Great work. Glad you posted...

I used to know a duck stamp winner....went to college in Mankato....had him in several classes, but his name slips me now.... Might have been around early 80's when he won ..In school late 60's early 70's.

I'm working a on a bull moose too... carving in a canoe paddle...

I know Phil Scholer very well. I haven't seen him for about a year.
Last we spoke he was running the fly shop at Cabelas.

I was really busy b/f Christmas. Did about 30 dicecups. Then a few trickled in after Christmas. Did 2 wedding parties. Groommens gifts. One order was for 14 dicecups. Been donating alot the last few weeks. MDHA out of Morris,MN, UFFDA (United Foundation For Disabled Archers) out of Glenwood. Made some things for the canoecopia next week. Gobblers of Glacial Ridge will in April. Oh, ya...making can or bottle holders for the 4,000 post dudes on the website.

That is beautiful! I can't enlarge the photo- wondering about the eyes, whether they are painted or inset.

Yup! Go to the Talking Crow Studio twice a week. Here some of the new stuff.

to answer some questions....

1 the wood is basswood ..... soft and basically "no" grain... so its a good choice and very popular with the woodcarvers...

2 the eyes are carved and then painted

thanks for the questions guys...

Later, Woodpecker

Nothing that even comes close to the beautiful work that you all have done or even recent, for that matter, but about 12 years ago, I built this garage and addition for a client NW. of Spooner Wis. My excavator was unable to remove one of the larger oak stumps near the building site. The owner wasn't too happy about that so in an effort to appease him, I did this with my chainsaw. I call it;

"The accidental mushroom"
