That's a regulation football? I've thought about briging a frizbee but nothing bigger than that.

okay, i re-read, you wanted some smart alec comments but I can't come up with any - just enjoyed the read. But, seriously you packed in a football? :-)

The Football I can explain.
Used to always brings 2 gloves and 2 baseballs, but the baseballs are so hard to find when missed up der. This was the year of the football and it is now a staple. I pitch for a baseball team but the summers in northern MN are so short you need to take advantage of all the sunlight you can find (just like the plant life).
