My wife and I and another couple just finished our annual two nighter at Wild River state park, about our 14th year. We stayed at the guest house, which is the former park managers small house in the woods. It accesses the ski trails, and three of us skied all we wanted (my wife cannot due to a bad back). A number of the state parks have small cabins to rent---usually about a 12 x 16 cabin, bunk beds to sleep 6 (1 up, two below), heated with propane except for the three at Maria state park. There are two monster houses at St. Croix state park, about 5 bedrooms, sleep 16 total in each house. Our guest house cost $135.00 per night, the cabins rent for about $45.00 a night, and I don't have any recent info on the monster houses at St. Croix. These cabins especially are a great, cheap way to be right on the ski territory and get a rustic feel to your skiing. Most of the parks are close enough to places to eat out that it isn't a problem, if you'd rather not cook. A great way to add a little adventure or difference to your skiing.
we've rented the monster guest houses at St Croix St park for multi family gatherings. They sleep up to 12, and have big kitchens and several bathrooms and bedrooms. Never during snow season; usually in October.
