Do many people here try the lakers when they are feeding on a hatch of mayflies or anything? any favorite lakes?

Lakers were surface feeding on Gillis Lake opening weekend during a mayfly hatch. IMO with all that natural food on the surface of the lake, it would be a real stretch to catch a laker on the fly.
