Hey all of you bike riders!

The wife and I are leaving in the morning to do the ride we have been riding/training a year (or as long as we have been riding) for! The Hotter n Hell 100. The ride is in Wichita Falls, TX and the forecast right now is for cooler weather 95 degrees, 40% humidity, and a 10-13 mph wind from the SSE. At least that is cooler than the 100+ degree, 75% humidity we have been having here!
We are looking forward to the challenge of the ride along with about 14000 other riders! Wish us luck!

Bruce

Here's a picture of the wife and I in the Smoky Mtns.

Good luck! Have fun. Not to rub it in, but I just got home from a ride and it was 72 degrees. Let us know how the ride was.

Just got back! Ride was great other than one little incident where I had told my wife Kim to stay to back left to stay in the draft stream and I turned to tell her something and we touched wheels! Knocked two of my spokes out and 5 of hers. We sagged to a repair station where they fixed mine but could not fix hers, but they lent her a rim to finish on. Down time was two hours and we had to walk a mile carrying our bikes before we got picked up.

Weather was great 68 at the start, 96 at the end, wind was blowing 16 mph for the last three hours. Out total ride time for 100 miles was 5:56:00. For the entire ride (102 Miles) was 6:08:00. Our goal was to break 6 hours and we did it averaging 16.8 mph.

Overall it was a fantastic event, well supported and staffed. If you ever get the chance you need to experience it at least once!

Sounds like you did well and had fun. The "touch" between you two could have been a lot worse. Thanks for the report!
