I have a Delorme PN 60 and when I am viewing the tiny screen in the canoe in the bright sunlight it is difficult to tell the water from the land. Is it possible to open the topo map file in an image editing program and color the water blue? I got my topos from the Delorme website. Are the better topo maps for the BWCA and/or Quetico than the ones from Delorme?

I use a PN40 and Topo8, so some difference there. I think mine is very viewable in the canoe.

screenshot of the display,

photo in sun of unit with display set to spring,

here I set the display to midnight [high contrast].

Try some different settings on the GPS first. It also makes a difference if you change the detail settings when you cut a map.

Thanks, I adjusted the settings and that helped a lot.
