Sounds like a good first trip - enjoyed the pictures. Boy, you must have had everything - including the kitchen sink - in that pack! :).
So, started planning the second one yet?

Nice first time trip. I stayed on Burnt clear up at very North End. I like that lake. I never made it to Flame...What was that like? We were on the way home to Sawbill from Cherokee Loup and just stayed the night on Burnt.
Many happy returns to the BWCA.

Thanks for posting your report! How was the fishing?

Thanks for the nice comments! Our portage packs were full! It is great to have all you need in two packs. Flame Lake was extremely nice, we took our time and explored. I think we were the only ones the lake (I don't think the campers in the only site on the lake were home). I did not manage to snag any fish while we were there, but I am a fair weather fisher-person and spent more time relaxing than trying to snag a fish.

We are so excited to go back! I think next time we might go in around Ely or go further north on the Gunflint. Any suggestions?
