Any experience grouse hunting the BWCA?

My dad and I used to hike parts of the border route trail for grouse. We had a few ridges and areas off the path that were good little secret spots but for the most part we would usually get 3 or 4 grouse between the two of us in a day of hiking. It was more for the hike than the birds.

I do a lot along the edge of the BWCA and do o'kay. Use to do the POW Wow trail,but that will be awhile now.
Curious,I have heard a lot of people seeing no birds this summer,except for one individual in one location seeing some big broods.
