Our group is considering trying deer hunting up in the BWCA next year. Would you mind giving as much info about your trip as you want. I'd really aprreciate the help on how you went abou things. Were planning our scouting trip right now and would love some pointers from your experiance. Thanks

sorry for the late reply.
There are a few things that are key to remember. I'm not sure where you hunt now, its different than most of the state.
1. Your hunting deer doing what deer would do without hunting pressure. (they don't deal with people running around the woods chasing them) find areas that are young. areas that have burned 2-3yrs ago.. new young growth. Its more open and full of berries and light greens to eat.
2. Waterways are always a good place to find. rivers and creeks are good travel routes for them. especially when the terrain is rocky.
3. grassy areas along lakes and bogs make for good bedding. Try and find places where you can intercept them..

I hope some of this helps. fell free to email me I can give you some lake names that I have been that I saw alot of deer and alot of nice bucks.

Cool, thanks for your input. I hunt in the up in the woods behind Tofte. We get back in the woods pretty far away from most of the people, so I kinda figured this would be the next step. Thanks again!
