I'm a neophyte on this picture stuff. Good thing my college-age son happened to be home for Xmas break. He showed me how to upload pics to photbucket. They transfer into the trip report so much better.
Hope to have Part 2 done in the next couple of days.

I'm not scringing...there just ain't that many fish left in Quetico...after I caught most of 'em. :-)

I could have worded that better. I didn't think you were scringing in Part 1, just wanted even more in Part 2.

quote kayak4me: "Awesome report! I have a solo trip planned in this same area this year. Was wodering, what type of pass do you need to stay in the Quetico campsites, and where do you get it?"
You’ll need the following for a Quetico trip:
1. Quetico Entry Permit – Reservations can be made by calling toll free (888) 668-7275 year around but may be made no earlier than 5 months before your departure date. Thus it is important to ensure that you lock in your desired entry point to Quetico by making reservations exactly 5 months prior to your entry point departure date. General questions for canoeing in Quetico may be addressed at (807) 597-2735.
2. Remote Area Border Crossing (RABC) Permit – Go to:
RABC Website
3. If fishing, you’ll need the Outdoors Card and an Ontario Fishing License. Go to:
Ontario Fishing License Website
4. U.S. Passport or Passport Card for reentry into the U.S. through a U.S. Customs office.
US Passport Website

Pine - loved your report. My son and I went up through McNiece and Kash this past summer. We made it to Yum Yum on day one and couldn't find a good looking site so we moved on to McNiece, luckily, that site was open and what a site it was. Does anyone know where a good site on Yum Yum is. We looked at 137 but it didn't look like anything? It was really, really windy that day, out of the south and we didn't want to paddle around the lake looking so we moved on.

Hi, Mav. Thx. My son and I stayed at 137 two nights a couple years ago. It wasn't too bad after we built up the pit and canoed around to get firewood. I may be mistaken, but a couple hundred yards north of 137 on your left is a site you have to walk up a ways to the top of the hill. Great views, lots of grass and duff, but the pads were uneven and rocky/rooty. I think 525 on the PCD is mismarked as there is no campsite there. 525 should be just north of 137.

quote gutmon: "Hope you didn't eat those "blue" berries in your photo."
No, just the real ones on Kahs...curious though...what are the "blue" berries called?

I can’t see the image since I am blocked from Photobucket, but the most common plant in the area with "blue berries" is the Bluebead Lily. Is this it? Picture of the Bluebead Lily
