Any particularly good squirrel areas in the BW? I like late September tripping and thought I might have some squirrels when the fish get old.

Not in the BW...You can come over to my house and blast away to your hearts content. Those damn things get into everything. I've killed hundreds and they keep coming.;-)

I've only ever seen red squirrels and while you could hunt them, they are very tiny and have little to no meat on them. And, with as tame as they are, I don't know if you could call it hunting...

How about in the old growth areas? I've also only seen the smallish gray squirrels in BW, but it seems there ought to be some fox squirrels in the areas with heavy pine nut production. I saw a gray squirrel swimming in Little Sag lake last fall. He was working hard to cross a channel and I had to tip my hat to him.

I haven't found too many areas where one can walk through the forest very easily. Lots of blowdown and marshes. There must be some open, more mature forest on the ridges (that haven't burned recently). Well, I guess it's just a matter of exploration. Maybe get some deer scouting in at the same time. I don't know if I'd ever deer hunt in BW, particularly in the remote places where I like to go to. Portaging with dead weight would be way too much like work.
