Not sure there's just one...

- with 1yo and bad weather approaching, had to share camp with people who JUST beat us to the portage and the empty site beyond. Kiddo slept through 10 hours of thunderstorms as dh and I marveled at her adaptability.

- with 5yo on Snowbank in huge rollers, we made the portage safe and sound, but kiddo didn't know what a bad decision that was on my part.

- with 3 kids in SR Q, through two rounds of sleet/hail, fruit snacks at each chaotic portage, loon popping up 2 feet off the bow, and finally setting up camp and having three smiling kids in rain suits playing tag at the site.

Why are they all about weather???

- First trip as only adult with three small kids... they portaged their behinds off and helped with everything. The feeling of peace as I lay on a rock and they made pretend campfires and found "kitchens" and "bedrooms"... and moose bones and beaver trees...

- paddling out with eldest in wind, two youngest fell fast asleep

- dh paddling over beaver dam with two sleeping kids in the bow

- kids paddling the canoe and gear from the EP without adults for the first time (took my breath away - nervous and proud)

- littlest dd being a ham wearing my stretch leggings up to her neck, or still sucking on a NUK wearing nothing but a leather outback hat or digging in a rotten tree for ants

- kids skinny dipping

- watching kiddo sitting silently alone on a point

Ahhh - no one most memorable moment, but a string of them that are highlights of my life!

There really is just to many to mention. I'll cover each kids main one I guess.

My oldest has to be when we took her into the BWCA at 12 weeks old.. first time mom so excited to be back to the bw.

For our middle child, her catching a 21 inch walleye on a snopy pole. She kept saying to my hubby .. daddy its so hard to real.. little did we know she was playing a fish. She got it up to the side of the boat and hubby was shocked. Once it was in the canoe she didn't want anything to do with it lol.

Youngest had to be the time we were on the portage from Hudson. I had him (he was under a year old) in the kelty back pack along with a pack under that and a small pack on my front. I got to the end of the portage and an older gentelman was there commenting on how wonderful it was to see the young girls in the BW. I told him how many trips the girls had been on then mentioned this was our sons 2nd trip. He said son? I said yup he's on my back! The guys almost fell over and said.. I didn't even see a baby there!

Our oldest was a gift from the BWCA ;) I have also been in the BWCA in the winter when I was pg with our middle child and was 2 months along, then at 8 months along we went in the summer. I was pregnant with our son and in the BW at 7 months a long. I LOVED getting strange looks from people in the BW when I was so pg. We use to joke we could save a ton of money if I would just give birth up there. Of course I always went into the BW pg with doc's permission

Great stories. So many hilarious, memorable moments.

Ours:

-Watching the kids marvel at the Whiskey Jacks landing on their hands.

-Serenaded over miles of water to the tune of "1000 Bottles of Pop on the Wall".

-Getting boots/shoes stuck in knee deep mud. Over and over.

-Youngest sleeping through stretches of the Isabella River. Carried while sleeping along portages, too.

-Getting caught by dangerous wind/waves on Snowbank. What is it with Snowbank?!

-Watching the kids paddle.

Canoearoo: You must be one of the only women in current history to paddle the BW pregnant. Amazing.

Oohhhh, gonna have to teach kids the bottles of pop song (bad mama, they've never done it that I know of).

Yes to mud, but as many times me and dh as kids. Friend's son lost his shoe once, my kids never - knock on wood!

Yes Snowbank, scary lake with or without kids.

pg - my second or third trip was with 2 female colleagues/friends. One was 8 months pregnant with child number 2. She carried the lightest pack and we did an easy route (Hog Creek), and it really was not an issue. If she had stayed home, she still would have gone running/jogging for several miles and taught aerobics, etc. It was probably a relaxing break for her - ha!
