I don’t necessarily hunt for sheds, but have come across two different ones while cutting trails. Both I found in March. I have also come across antlers still attached to the skull of a winter killed deer. I did not take those.

I found several different size moose sheds, several deer antlers while exploring the BDUB. I never found any really big deer sheds, and the moose sheds ive seen have been chipped or broken, or chewed. On a trip in the quetico I came across a bear skull once also. If I can find a photo I will try to post it on here!

I haven't found any sheds yet in the Bdub. My brother has though. Found a perfectly matched set right in the dirt where the buck stuck them at the base of a big pine. It looked as if the buck put his head down and jammed his antlers into the dirt and they broke off right there. All the tines are stained an inch or two where they were stuck in the dirt. Pretty nice find. He missed the record book by 2 points with them.

On a trip into a PMA this this past July we found an interesting find. we were fishing along this vertical rock wall which must have been 300-500yrds wide. but right in the middle was a chunk of rock that must have fallen off, and was only 2 feet above the waterline. but on this 30x20 slab of rock there were at least 5 different sets of deer skeletons. we counted 5 rib cages, legs bones all over, 3 doe skulls and 2 buck skulls both still had antlers attached. everything had been chewed on and most were broken. I can only imagine it was an area were the wolves must have cornered the deer during the winter. very cool too see.

That would be quite the sight to see. Which PMA/lake?

Bigpaddle- it sounds like to me it was a area in the hard winter they might of died there naturally. Why the antlers still attached and not shedded ? In a hard winter my brother found a spot where about a dozen deer died of starvation. They were not touched by wolves etc..
You go back to 1995-96 90% of the fawns and 50% of the adult does died because of starvation in a area just south of Longville MN..

They should be out there now. Just guessing but 90 percent should of shedded by now. Seen a few as late as April holding antlers before. The north shore slopes would be a good area to look. I think in my area not to many big bucks survive anymore,so it makes it tough hunting for sheds. I looked up by Longville and south of Brainerd this year. Good excuse to get outdoors.

I've been out twice now this spring looking and haven't found any. I had a nice 10 point on one of my trail cams on Jan 2. I was hoping to find his sheds. Only had him on camera though that one day so I suppose he was walking through to other shedding grounds.

I wish I could find a moose shed. I'm lucky to see a moose with pre-sheds. I think 99% of the moose I have seen have been antlerless.
I co-worker was up recently and found a really nice big shed in some muck.

Found 2 more sheds of moose this week for a total of 5 moose sheds in the last couple of weeks,in the same area my nephew found a 10 point buck with horns attached to a skull. Prior to this time I have found about 2 moose antlers in my life.

March 23rd and I am batting zero this winter in finding deer sheds around my home town area. I knew where a couple of big bucks which survived the deer season were, but that didn't help any. I have a good time looking on skis or snowshoes lately. That's the most important thing.

Looks to be in good shape. Must not have been there too long or you'd expect to see some mice damage.

Agree on the good shape.
Interesting at home I have a small flower planter with a deer antler in it. The other day a grey squirel grabbed it and hauled it a few yards and I noticed they been chewing on it off and on all summer.
