Nice report. Sorry about the canoe - it will reinforce my habit of always tieing it down.

Thanks for taking the time to share your story.

Bummer about the canoe. Sometimes I guess a person never knows what they'll encounter next? At least you were still able to use it and not have to end your trip prematurely. Just added to the adventure right? One day you'll look back on it & laugh........Just not today! :)

Rich sorry about the canoe but it sounds like a good trip overall. If you go into Fourtown try a day trip to Fairy for Walleye. You will be the only boat on the lake. Boot also holds some large walleye.

My father and I are going to camp either on Fourtown or Horse in late August, I'd like to know more about the walleye in Fairy and or Boot as we will be in the area. Thanks

We caught some nice Walleye around the small rock piles on Boot. We also caught some drifting leeches in 15 feet of water down the middle of the lake. Fairy lake I have caught some nice Walleye around the big island and drifting from the big island back into the little bay just north of the island. The Walleye on Fairy have a nice golden color to them. The camp site on the east side of Fairy lake #1087 is a nice site to camp at.

Richwon4 - Great Trip Report! Sorry about the canoe. I am glad you had a great time despite that.
The Boy Scouts slogging along dropping gear all over the trail must have been a sight to see.
The Horse/Fourtown area should be way less crowded this Sept. when you return with your dad. Thanks for creating this report. It was a good read.

Nice report, it is too bad about the canoe. Sometimes I wonder "Can I just pull this up on the bank and tip it over?" but after hearing about your unfortunate incident, I will secure my canoe every time. I'm sorry that's an expensive lesson to learn.

The unexpected can happen, I'm glad for you that the canoe was still useable and didn't ruin your trip!
